Job overview:
Midwest Logistics Systems (MLS), a Schneider National Inc (“SNI”) subsidiary, is seeking a Business Development Director to join our thriving team in either Nashville, TN or in the states of AL, GA, MS, SC, NC. In this role, you will lead the business development efforts with new customers. This role emphasizes establishing new customer relationships, working with MLS Operations Management to assess solutions for customer needs, and assisting in the acquisition of new business with a smooth transition from start up to operational stability. The primary is to generate business with new customers for MLS to increase revenue and maximize enterprise profitability within SNI and its affiliates.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, identify, and qualify new business opportunities through strategic prospecting and planning.
- Ensure the prospect is financially solvent and will be a long-term viable customer based on credit performance, working to hold to our approved credit terms.
- Follow up on lead generation in a timely manner with weekly face to face sales calls.
- Coordinate development of client solutions with the MLS Operations Management.
- Develop, write, and present the value proposition for MLS services to potential new business customers.
- Prepare and lead contract negotiations for new business.
Skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor or equivalent work experience
- 3+ Years relevant work experience, preferably in Transportation
- Exceptional interpersonal communication, customer relations, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to travel 25-50%
- Valid driver’s license and meet Schneider’s DMV record standard
